Hi, all. I'm recognizing that I am no longer working on Python packaging and probably will not do so anytime in the foreseeable future, so I am departing the PyPA (as well as some other related mailing lists, fora, and groups). I've learned so much since I started working with you all in 2016 (some of which I shared in my PyCon US keynote last year, "Untold stories from six years working on Python packaging" https://harihareswara.net/posts/2024/references-pycon-us-keynote/ ), and it's been an honor to collaborate with you. In particular: if it weren't for working on Python packaging with you, I would not have worked on the pip resolver overhaul from January through December of 2020. And in that chaotic year, working on pip with the team that we put together helped keep me steady. Working with great colleagues, frequently delivering stuff to people who gave feedback, towards an important goal that would materially help a lot of people, strengthened and sustained me. I've removed myself from the GitHub org (as far as I can gather) and, after sending this email, I'll remove myself from this committers' email list; if you want to say goodbye, please cc me. And please do feel free to contact me anytime with questions or requests for advice, or requests for volunteer or paid work. I may say no, but I might not! -- Sumana Harihareswara Changeset Consulting https://changeset.nyc

Seconding Deb: thank you for all your work Sumana! You were a huge part of why I got involved in Python packaging (already 6 years ago, wow), and I appreciate everything you've done for both packaging and the Python community more broadly. I hope to see you around! Best, William On Thu, Jan 9, 2025 at 10:30 AM Deb Nicholson <deb@python.org> wrote:

Sumana, thanks for all your efforts to date, you are certainly leaving the PyPA and its projects better than you found it. Like William, I owe much to you for getting me involved and being effective, for that I am grateful! We will miss you. On Thu, Jan 9, 2025 at 8:07 PM Thea Flowers <me@thea.codes> wrote:

I'm a little late to the party here - but also wanted to echo my thanks @Sumana Harihareswara <sh@changeset.nyc> I know you called out the pip project as a highlight, but my highlight will always be working with you and the team to launch Warehouse. The project ran so smoothly that it wasn't until I was asked to speak about it at EuroPython that I realised how exceptional it was. When I explained that we delivered it both on time and within budget the audience broke out in spontaneous applause. That applause was in no small part because of your expertise and drive. Keep well and please don't hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can ever do for you. Nicole On Fri, Jan 10, 2025 at 3:46 PM Dustin Ingram <di@python.org> wrote:
