seeking grants, fundable projects
I'm been trying to keep aware of PyPA-related tasks we could fund, and of funding sources. I'm trying to list things at https://wiki.python.org/psf/Fundable%20Packaging%20Improvements but would like suggestions of additional projects. I'd also like to know about companies that have mentioned that they'd like to fund packaging work. Current status: Packaging WG got and is administering a grant from the Open Tech Fund to work on PyPI, and got money from Facebook that it is going to use later this year to improve PyPI security. A few days ago Ernest and I submitted a grant proposal to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative https://chanzuckerberg.com/rfa/essential-open-source-software-for-science/ for development and UX work on pip. We could apply for Mozilla MOSS money again; Comcast is interested in funding Python security work; Foursquare and Anaconda have expressed interest in funding wheel-building and similar infrastructure work, and we are following up. -- Sumana Harihareswara Changeset Consulting https://changeset.nyc
Dustin and I have now moved this to GitHub: https://github.com/di/fundable-packaging-improvements to make it easier for you to make suggestions. Reminder that the Comcast Innovation Fund is accepting proposals for projects of up to USD$150,000.
