Another consideration I have is that we have been handing out external pointers into our repositories from various places, e.g. from our blog posts and also in some papers. I don't see an easy solution to keep them valid, which is a bit of a pity.
As posted earlier i plan to keep a read-only version of the svn repo around. We could degrade this to statically serving files or maybe use Dan's forwarder. best, holger
