Hi all Looks like I'm the one with all the complaints :) Thanks for investigating the Windows issues! I'm trying to compile pypy-c on a Linux/x86 machine, and running into all sorts of errors. Following the instructions in the getting- started document, I installed ctypes, pygame and graphviz. After that I run the translator tool and get the following errors. Casual question - what version of pypy are you trying? Try svn checkout (I don't think it's very recent checkout what you have, although I'm not sure) Cheers, fijal :.
I'll try it and let you know. I downloaded to pypy-1.0.0 distribution tarball. Thanks Raj On Oct 22, 2007, at 11:38 AM, Maciek Fijalkowski wrote:

I have Python 2.5.1. I have currently downloaded the latest pypy from subversion, and it seems to be compiling happily for the last 10 mins or so. Raj On Oct 22, 2007, at 1:21 PM, Christian Tismer wrote:

Ok, the compilation failed after quite a while. I have attached the output file of the compilation process. It seems to have failed on some simple C undeclared-variable error. Thanks Raj On Oct 22, 2007, at 1:21 PM, Christian Tismer wrote:

You don't have boehm (devel version) installed. Install it, go to /tmp/usession-<user>/testing_1/ and type make. You'll have your pypy-c under name testing_1 :.

Great result, so far. Compiling pypy should alas not be done without reading the getting started document. Either set the gc to something different, or install the boehm gc source package. cheers - chris -- Christian Tismer :^) <mailto:tismer@stackless.com> tismerysoft GmbH : Have a break! Hmm, I have installed the gc already, but maybe the library path is not set correctly. lemme try changing that & I'll let you guys know what happens. Thanks Raj On Oct 22, 2007, at 7:51 PM, Christian Tismer wrote:

Yes, that's the problem, in fact. Stupid question, but how (or where) do I set the include path for the C compiler to find the header? I can't find anything resembling a Makefile. Thanks again! Raj On Oct 23, 2007, at 4:15 AM, Maciek Fijalkowski wrote:

Thanks Raj Libgc might be there, but header aren't (developement version of lib)

If you are on debian, just install the source package apt-get install libgc-dev This installs the header files into common directories like /usr/lib cheers - chris -- Christian Tismer :^) <mailto:tismer@stackless.com> tismerysoft GmbH : Have a break! there is a Makefile somewhere here: /tmp/usession-* Simon.

Then either ask your sysop to install it, or get the source distro, build it locally, and then you are slightly on your own. One proposal from #pypy was to just run the translation and let compilation crash (this is where you are now), then edit the Makefile which is there and add what's needed to the INCLUDEDIRS variable. Then do a make, and you should be fine. cheers - chris -- Christian Tismer :^) <mailto:tismer@stackless.com> tismerysoft GmbH : Have a break! I was just told that translate.py has a --cflags option, so you should be able to pass your extra -I options in there. cheers - chris -- Christian Tismer :^) <mailto:tismer@stackless.com> tismerysoft GmbH : Have a break!
