Are you using gcc 4.2? If so , you have this bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-4.2/+bug/187391 and you need a newer gcc. (Or maybe an older one would work, too, but this one doesn't). Laura

This would be before GCC can run. It's probably worth investigating, it surely should not use that much. PS. Is it possible to access a BSD box where I can try? If not I can probably provide you with some debugging tools. Cheers, fijal
