Hi,
We would like to offer a worker running the latest Oracle Solaris. For now, we have just a SPARC machine ready; we are looking into an Intel one as well but have no ETA for that one yet.
There are still some open issues (all with PRs) that might result in test failures and one more weird failure related to leaked semaphores (which I was not able to resolve yet), but our internal buildbot is green or orange most of the time.
We are committed to maintaining this bot and analyzing/reporting/possibly fixing failures found with this bot.
Thanks, Jakub

Just a question (with no bearance on outcome). Is this a company sponsored effort to maintain Python on Oracle Solaris?
Thank you maintaining this.

Yes, we (that is Oracle and its Solaris team) decided to offer this worker with a goal to maintain Python on Solaris as it is a vital core FOSS component for us (and AFAIK several OpenSolaris forks as well).
(Hope I understood the question correctly.)
Jakub
Thank you maintaining this.

Great, thank you.
Were you able to get maintainer's attention on this?

No, not yet. I guess everybody maintaining the buildbot is enjoying summer :).

Hi,
just a gentle reminder that our Oracle Solaris SPARC buildbot worker is ready.
Cheers, Jakub

Hi Jakub,
What do you need?
There is doc at: https://devguide.python.org/buildworker/
The buildbot configuration is managed by: https://github.com/python/buildmaster-config/
Example of commit adding a worker: https://github.com/python/buildmaster-config/commit/4cf6e5da5c5752e6be45bf4c...
I don't know the full process to add a buildbot worker.

Thanks for the references. I believe that the only thing I need is workername and password. Once we have those credentials, I can create a PR and add our worker.
Thanks! Jakub

Hi Jakub,
I sent you a password in private.
You can now create a pull request in the https://github.com/python/buildmaster-config/ project to register your worker.
The two main files are master/custom/builders.py and master/custom/workers.py.
You can look at the Git history to find examples.
Tell me if you need help with that.
Victor
