He has submitted a number of patches since the beginning of the year, culminating with a complete rewrite of BZ2File in pure Python allowing to add new features (such as the support for arbitrary file-like objects) and maintain the code much more easily.
Oh. I realized that I forgot to add him for his work on #10512 (and other related issues): fix ResourceWarning (unclosed files and sockets) in some tests, and sometimes in modules. Sorry for that.
+1 to give him the committer right.
