Who wants to be the next tarfile maintainer?
Hi!
My name is Lars Gustäbel. I am the author of the tarfile module, and I have been its maintainer for over ten years. I have not been active in the bugtracker for a long time now, and I don't see that this will change in the future. There are many open bugs and issues that need attention, and I am sure that many people are dissatisfied with the current situation.
Therefore, I think it is best that I resign and someone else takes over as maintainer of tarfile. It goes without saying that I will help with the switch as well as I can.
Kind regards,

I will do it. Thank you, Lars, for the time you gave to the project.

Thank you very much!
What do I have to do to get my commit privileges revoked?
-- Lars Gustäbel lars@gustaebel.de
You ask me to do it. :) I have gone ahead and revoked them.
Thanks for all your help over the years, Lars!
If a core dev asks to have their commit bit removed, what happens if they change their mind? Do we have go through the usual vote process? Or should we just add it back whenever they ask?

Once a core dev, always a core dev (unless you’re fired). Git permissions can be reinstated no questions asked.

What Guido said. :)
This is also why I put in so much time and effort to make sure https://github.com/python/voters/blob/master/python-core.toml was accurate as that acts as the record of who has been a core developer.

I saw you fixing dozens of tarfile issues last years. Thanks for all the work you did for Python!
