Last week I promised to post some guidelines on bug triage. In the interim, the number of open bugs has dropped by about 30. We still have 71 open bugs to deal with. The goal is to get the number of open bugs below 50 before the 2.0b2 release next week, so there is still a lot to do. So I've written up some general guidelines, which I'll probably put in a PEP. The default search path is defined in /etc/ld.so.conf. What distribution are you using? Perhaps somebody forgot to run /sbin/ldconfig after installing the tcl library? Does tclsh find it? No, the line break wasn't intentional. I ran into this problem on a stock RedHat 6.2 (intel) system with python 1.5.2 reading pages from an iPlanet Enterprise Server 4.1 on an NT box. The patch I included fixed the problem for me. This was a consistent problem for me so I should be able to reproduce the problem, and I send you any new info I can gather. Problem with using _xmlplus

The code in Lib/xml/__init__.py seems to be insufficient to completely delegate matters to the _xmlplus package. Seems like people are very surprised to see "print >> None" defaulting to "print >> sys.stderr". I must confess that now that I'm looking at it and after reading the PEP, this change lacks some argumentation. In Python, this form surely looks & feels like the Unix cat /dev/null, that is, since None doesn't have a 'write' method, the print statement is expected to either raise an exception or be specialized for None to mean "the print statement has no effect".
