I have problem with re-install python 2.3.4, when I execute ./configure is appear one message in config.log, follow below : configure:1710: gcc conftest.cc >&5 gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1plus': No such file or directory configure:1713: $? = 1 My gnu/linux is 2.6.8-1-386(debian/sarge) Somebody could help me? Py2.4 _sre uses uninitialised memory (Bug 1088891)

_sre.c, data_stack_grow() in Py2.4 uses realloc()'ed memory without initialising the newly allocated memory. For complex regexps that require additional sre stack space, this ultimately results in a core dump or corrupted heap. Filling the newly allocated memory with 0x55 makes the problem more obvious (dies on a reference to 0x55555558) for me. Preparing for the distutils patch to allow building extensions using the .NET SDK compilers, I am compiling a list of version numbers and MS compiler logo outputs in order to use these to identify the correct compiler to use for the extensions. mmap feature or bug?

Quick questions: Is mmap's inability to be subclassed a feature or bug? Is one's inability to use a = mmapinstance.__setslice__;a(1,2,'a') (and others) a feature or bug?
