Could someone who knows how it is currently set up suggest a correction to the dev FAQ for svnmerge usage? The text at http://www.python.org/dev/faq/#how-do-i-merge-between-branches still describes the situation as it was before the trunk was closed to new checkins. I want to know if this could be considered for the main trunk of python. As a second phase I intend to internationalize the language itself so it could be localized and used with kids and for programming teaching. For 2.6.6rc1 a patch was committed that addressed bug 7902: http://bugs.python.org/issue7902 http://svn.python.org/view?rev=81381&view=rev While this fixes a legitimate bug in Python 2.6, it also changes existing behavior in the 2.6 series. As 2.6.6 is the last planned maintenance release, I do not think we've had enough testing of this change and am not sure it should stay in. Note that we've already seen one fallout from this. Hello, Recently I fixed parsing issues for failures like "hung for 30 minutes", where the last test was no longer detected, since r83543 (the regrtest progress bar, issue #8560). You need to update the script to see the change: http://code.google.com/p/bbreport/ Limitations: - the cache will not be updated, but future builds should be parsed correctly. - there's no documentation yet (except ./bbreport.py --help) -- Florent Xicluna

Parallel build slave

I have set up 4-CPU system as a build slave, and enabled parallel builds on it; this means that the Makefile and the testsuite is run in parallel. configure and setup.py remain sequential. You can watch its waterfall at http://tinyurl.com/39a8u8m Notice that the 2.6 branch doesn't support the -j option to regrtest. Regards, Martin

Dear list, I was wondering whether there would ever be support for python to be build by the mingw compiler suite. I found a few patches in the internet but there were disagreeing comments on whether they are functional or not. So I would like to ask the list whether there are any technical reasons that this is so.
