installing python 2.7.9 on a Mac

webmaster just got mail from a novice who is trying to learn Python in an introductory class. She got a "The version of Tcl/Tk (8.5.7) in use may be unstable" message. I think that the download page should have a link. If you get <The version of Tcl/Tk (8.5.7) in use may be unstable> download and install <this link>. Any reason we cannot do that? Laura

Azure event hub network access

Import Fails in setup.py On Android

After fixing a segfault issue (many thanks Ryan) I'm back to the same issue I was having with Python 2.7.8; the newly built python throws an undefined reference to dlopen when running setup.py...specifically when importing just-built extensions I've managed to narrow the problem down to the following line: importlib._bootstrap._SpecMethods(spec).load() Googling this brings up a few hits from bugs.python.org and not much else. Hi Everyone, I am a core software engineer at Rocket Software Inc. I am working on database system called UniData and Universe. Now we plan to introduce Python as the new programming language to our customer. When I try to build the python 3.4.1 on Red Hat Linux platform. I found some problem and need help. After I run configure and make the python, at the very end, it said some optional modules we missing, Python build finished successfully! The necessary bits to build these optional modules were not found: _bz2 _lzma _ssl _tkinter zlib So, I went to python development guide site and found out I have to download some other source to build the optional modules. Since I am on RH Linux and yum is installed on my Linux box, so I run following command # yum install yum-utils Loaded plugins: product-id, refresh-packagekit, security, subscription-manager This system is not registered to Red Hat Subscription Management. Why does pip upgrade to a random version?

Could somebody please have a look at the following SO question? It seems as if I might have found a bug in pip: http://stackoverflow.com/q/28282671/562769 TL;DR of the SO question: I executed `$ sudo pip install hwrt --upgrade` mutiple times and got a - seemingly random - version of hwrt installed. Python Mobile-sig

There is now a Python SIG dedicated to running Python on mobile devices. Sign up for the mobile-sig(a)python.org mailing list and find out more at [1]. The Mobile-SIG exists to improve the usability of Python on mobile devices, as mobile platforms have their own unique requirements and constraints. There are two goals: * To collaborate on porting CPython to mobile platforms and ensure that other Python implementations (i.e. Jython, IronPython) present much the same environment as CPython when running on mobile devices. * To collaborate on the design of modules for mobile-centric features such as cameras, GPS, accelerometers, and other sensors to ensure cross-platform and cross-implementation compatibility. Workflow PEP proposals are now closed

The PEPs under consideration are PEPs 474 <https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0474/> and 462 <https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0462/> from Nick Coghlan to use Kallithea and do self-hosting, and PEP 481 <https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0481/> from Donald Stufft that proposes using GitHub. At this point I expect final PEPs by PyCon US so I can try and make a decision by May 1. Longer still is to hopefully have whatever solution we choose in place right after Python 3.5 is released. And just a reminder to people, the lofty goal is to improve the overall workflow for CPython itself such that our patch submission queue can actually be cleared regularly. This not only benefits core devs by letting us be more effective, but also contributors by making sure their hard work gets addressed quickly and thus doesn't languish on the issue tracker for very long. If we can't find a solution for fixing our CPython workflow I will then be willing to entertain these PEPs narrowing their scopes and only focus on ancillary repos like the devguide, etc. where the workflows are simple. I know the absolute worst case is nothing changes, but honestly I think the worst case is Nick's work gets us off of Rietveld, the ancillary repos move to GitHub, and we make the GitHub and Bitbucket mirrors of CPython official ones for people to work from (bonus points if we get the issue tracker to have push button patch pulling from GitHub; Bitbucket is already covered thanks to our remote hg repo support). IOW I see nothing but a win for contributors and core devs as well as everyone proposing solutions which is a nice place to start from. =)
