Actually there is an entire section to the devguide dedicated to helping you find something to do: http://docs.python.org/devguide/#contributing. Handling "easy" issues are part of the advanced section. =) -Brett

I just gone though Python developer's guide and how to become core contributor document. And I just compiled CPython on my machine.
