The likely explanation is that the __main__ module in the parent process isn't the same as in the child process, so fetching the class from that module doesn't work. If that's really important for you you could open a separate issue.
And another option is to use the simple, pleasant fix of not defining any functions or classes in __main__. Define them in a real module and import them for use in __main__.
