No, they won't. The __fspath__ protocol will reduce the rich path object down to a str/bytes object.

Maybe, but a bad idea for two reasons: 1) Reducing a str to the exact same str is silly; and, more importantly 2) not every str/bytes is a path -- ~Ethan~
