SQLObject isn't really mature enough, and seems too complex to really be right for the standard library. Maybe something like dbrow, though. But most low-level database libraries or extensions really belong as part of the DB API, and the DB API is implement on a per-backend basis. Most high-level libraries are outside the scope of the standard library. dbrow is kind of an anomoly, being both low-level and fairly database-neutral.
