I like this idea. To reduce the workload, we should probably pick Python3 (at least initially)?
Aren't the existing patches on the tracker already for Python 3.5+? They should be, as that's the only version that's likely to be a possible target (unless you get someone to agree to allow a change like this as in scope for Pythhon 2.7, which I've seen no indication of). Maybe I'm confused here. Paul
