On my system there is no problem: nowonder@mobility:~/python/python/dist/src > ./python Lib/test/test_fork1.py nowonder@mobility:~/python/python/dist/src > ./python Lib/test/regrtest.py test_fork1 test_fork1 1 test OK. I am using a (somewhat modified) SuSE 6.4 distribution with an old 2.2.13 kernel. What does your's look like?
