No they shouldn't. Joey Hess wrote to debian-python about the problems such a scheme caused when Perl5.005 and Perl 5.6 tried to coexist.
Maybe that needs to be explained again, in real simple terms. My understanding is that it was a problem with the programs not properly identifying which version of Perl they need, if any. - Bruce
