+1 for this analysis. It is a modern shibboleth, but let's not invite people to leave who are reluctant to make the right noises -- that's an unfortunate response.

A bit off topic ...

It is surprising to read that slavery is unique to US history. Maybe institutionally, amongst large democracies, the US was late to abolish it. But even in the UK, where we are proud that decency overcame self-interest, peacefully and slightly ahead of the US, in practice it remains a problem today. Anything directly helpful is likely to be done outside the framework of the PSF, and not because we changed a branch name. However, it's odds on that those tackling it here are using Python for data science.
