This doesn't have much value if you don't say which version of Python you ran json with. You should use 3.2, otherwise you might miss some optimizations.
Yes, that was 2.6.5 -- 3.2 native json is comparable to simplejson here taking about 330ms...
From the POV of CPython 3.2, is "native" Python or C?
"Native" as in the version that ships with 3.2. And actually I think my test with 2.6.5 wasn't using the C extension for some reason so that 5.5s number isn't right -- a fresh build of 2.7.1 gives me a runtime of around 350ms. m -- Matt Billenstein matt@vazor.com http://www.vazor.com/
