The appeal of f-strings is the rapid inlining of whatever plus string data. "Whatever" is typically more complex than a simple attribute access or variable reference, though not much more complex eg. `object.method(key, "default")`. I suspect f-strings are in the same category as lambda -- if it's that complex, use the other tools instead. At this point I don't see this changing. If you want to make any headway you're going to have to do it with a complete alternate implementation, and even then I don't think you have good odds. -- ~Ethan~
