TI think this is a *really* good candidate for the stdlib...
Who maintains appdirs? Is s/he willing to maintain it on the stdlib's release schedule? If so, I'd be +1 on this; Python has a strong precedent for papering over OS differences and providing a consistent platform. ChrisA
