"Keep the status quo"
PEP 671 is very much the same. It does something worthwhile. But it does vastly less than needed to warrant new syntax and semantics. I hope it takes less than 19 years, but a generalized deferred construct is worth waiting for.
You: "Keep the status quo, all done"
Also you: "Let's wait for something better"
That's what I take issue with. You are simultaneously telling me that this proposal is bad because there's another proposal that would be better, AND saying that you don't want to push for any other proposal.
So you're welcome to keep waiting. Meanwhile, I'm going to try to actually accomplish something NOW, not wait for some hypothetical future.
