[Python-ideas] Re: Improve error message for trying to import itself

I agree — having a warning would be fantastic! Personally, I think the minor speed drawback of checking the full path would be worth it, in most cases. The fact that a module is being shadowed is really valuable information to have.

If there’s enough of a demand for this, which I think there is, I’d like to add this to the issue tracker or write a PEP for it. Since this is my first time contributing, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. :)
