Python already has a "-v" option:
-v Print a message each time a module is initialized, showing the place (filename or built-in module) from which it is loaded. When given twice, print a message for each file that is checked for when searching for a module. Also provides information on module cleanup at exit.
Isn't this too late? I mean, this is only relevant if you understand that conflicting module names is the problem you're having. It seems to me like not allowing or warning or something when you get into this situation would actually solve the problem.
