As mentioned earlier, we are open to the idea of open source if we can find a large enough community of volunteers with the skills to translate Python directly to assembly language without using an intermediate representation or a third party compiler like LLVM.
It sounds like this is off-topic for python-ideas, but an excellent subject for discussion over on python-list. Can we redirect this conversation there? I'd love to discuss more about the optimizations and limitations there. ChrisA
