Hello there, I'm an American working in San Francisco. I'd like to go work in England for a few years, preferably doing Python programming. Do any of you know of job openings for Python or Python and C? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lawrence

The date is Thursday, November the 2nd. The time, sixish. The venue will *probably* be the William Morris pub, Merton Abbey Mills, off Merantum Way SW19. This could change, though, if we get any takers who would find this hard to get to. Plan B would probably be a pub near Clapham Junction - you can get a train to there from anywhere in the civilised world. ...for SW London Pythonistas. How does Thursday, November the 2nd sound? Where would be a good place? Putney? Clapham? Wimbledon? Richmond? Hammersmith? I was thinking that Clapham might be good, 'cos every train in the world goes to Clapham Junction. Well, every train in SW London, and that's pretty much the same thing. But I'm open to other options... Possible London Python Vacancy

We may have a vacancy for someone at ReportLab (www.reportlab.com). We're building some large financial reporting systems between now and mid-December and need a junior programmer/tester in our Wimbledon office ASAP. The initial work will involve building automated test harnesses for the code we generate, some user group and customer support, and generally learning your way around everything to do with ReportLab, PDF, XML, and Python if you aren't already fluent. This would be ideal for someone hoping to move from other languages to Python or for a first programming job. You need to be able to get to Wimbledon at least a couple of days per week. This could either be a fixed contract or the beginning or a longer term job. If anyone is interested, or know anyone else who might be, please email andy(a)reportlab.com directly with a CV or brief biography. There are several of us around SW London and more in the centre. After a prolonged period of being grounded due to little kids, I am now able to get out most Thursday nights and very thirsty. What is this list *for*?

Hi all. My introduction to Python came after the Starship crash, so this list is new to me. I'm assuming it's not really for technical stuff, 'cos the standard list seems to cover that. So, is this list mainly for networking? And if so, does anyone in the London area fancy a beer?
