*** Call for Participation *** UK Python Conference 2003 April 2-3 2003 Holiday Inn, Oxford The UK Python Conference 2003 is being held in conjunction with the larger ACCU conference. The conference will include two days of papers arranged in 90 minute speaking slots with either one or two tracks. The audience is highly technical and will include experts in many fields of computing, some of whom may know little or nothing about Python. Talks will be welcomed on any aspect of Python, but we are especially interested in the following: - Commercial applications for Python - Cross-language talks Speakers are welcome from the UK or the rest of the world, however our budget for overseas speakers may be limited. To submit a proposal, send an email message to duncan(a)rcp.co.uk by 2nd October 2003. Dear John, sorry for the delay, however here is the usual blurb for the conference - any other questions please just ask: UK Python Conference 2003 April 2-3 2003 Holiday Inn, Oxford The UK Python Conference 2003 is being held in conjunction with the ACCU conference on Weds 2nd and Thurs 3rd of April 2003. Speakers include such well-known and respected Python figures as language inventor Guido van Rossum and author Alex Martelli. Subjects that will be discussed range from using Python with Java or C++ to XP and GUI programming. As usual the collegiate and informal atmosphere of the conference is expected to contain in-depth and fascinating talks as well as opportunites to meet Python enthusiasts from all walks of life, and is held a short journey from the dreaming spires of Oxford. As the conference takes place alongside the ACCU conference there is ample opportunity to mingle with luminaries from the C++ world including Bjarne Stroustrup. Hi All, I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an 'old' python hacker, having used the language on and off since the early 90's. Even my more recent life as a java coder has been kept tolerable with judicious use of jython. Anyway, I'm new to the U.K, and thought I'd turn up on tomorrow and meet some of the local python crowd.
