Summarising from the CamPUG Google Group: The next meeting of CamPUG will be a talks meeting, on Tuesday 2nd March 2010, at 7.30pm. I believe this meeting will be at RealVNC, http://tinyurl.com/realvncoffices (unless Tom corrects me). Sorry for the short notice. Bryan Cole has volunteered to talk about numpy (if you haven't used numpy, it's worth finding out about). I shall do a quick introduction to KBUS messaging (based on a blog post I did recently). If anyone uses other messaging systems, I'd be interested in their experiences. If anyone else has anything they want to present (lightning talks, i.e., only a few minutes long, are more than welcome), please let me know, or just turn up with something to talk about. The meeting after that will be on Tuesday 6th April, and will be a continuation of the Code Dojo theme. Unless there is a great outcry, I'm proposing to stick to this alternation between talks and "playing with coding" for the next few months at least (provided Robin and Tom are happy, of course). Small Project Help

Hi Not sure if anyone here can help. We have a small piece of Python code that's integral to our company's workflow and it doesn't seem to be working properly on our OSX 10.6 machines. At the moment, we're finding it quite difficult to locate a company in London that offers Python development? Can you suggest a company that we could contact that could possibly help to resolve our issue and do some further development? 7th London Python Code Dojo: 4th March 2010

Folks, I've finally found some time to get the booking page for the next London Python Code Dojo up. For the record, last time we attempted to refactor the various adventure game solutions from the January dojo. Whilst interesting, perhaps refactoring isn’t *that* exciting an activity for a dojo :-). Nevertheless, people seemed to be having fun and we did achieve our goal of a “one true” adventure game code base that allows us to define and navigate around a game world. The code can be found here: http://github.com/ntoll/code-dojo/tree/master/adventure/week2/. After discussion at the end of the last dojo (and later in the pub) we decided that this time round we’re going to try another small-groups based exercise with a “show and tell” at the end as we continue to build the world’s greatest adventure game. Problems we might want to tackle include: a command parser, keeping track of game state/score/objects, NPCs/AI, authoring tools, turning it into a MUD (and so the list goes on...) It's happening on 4th March 2010 at 6:30pm at the offices of Fry-IT with the usual free pizza and beer (thanks Fry-IT) followed by lots of adventures in Python. Participants also get a chance to win an O'Reilly book (thanks O'Reilly). Pub at the end. Django User Group London event in two weeks time

What? DJUGL is the sometimes monthly meetup of the Django User Group in London. Expect a gathering of Django users and developers, some interesting short talks and hopefully a few slices of pizza. Speakers Brad Wright from Smarkets, The simple, social way to bet on sports. We’re still on the lookout for anyone who fancies doing a slot for the next event or at some point the future. Anything from a ten minute slot up to half an hour is probably best. When? 25th February 2009. Doors will open at 6:30pm. The talks will start at 7pm and will go on till 8:30pm or so.
