London Python Code Dojo Tomorrow

Folks, Just a quick note to remind people that the next London Python Code Dojo is happening tomorrow at 6:30pm at the offices of Fry-IT. Details and sign-up can be found here: http://ldnpydojo.eventwax.com/11th-london-python-code-dojo This will be the last Dojo before a summer break in August (the first anniversary dojo will be in September). We’re going to decide the problem for the evening during the pizza/beer part of proceedings. There will be a suggestions board and people will be asked to vote at the start of the coding session. See you at EuroPython! ---------- EuroPython 2010 - Europe's official Python conference There is less than a month to go until EuroPython 2010 - the last ever EuroPython to be held in the UK. EuroPython 2010 is about the Python programming language and the open source software and tools written in Python, and is aimed at everyone in the Python community, whether you are a Python expert, or you are coming to the conference in order to learn Python for the first time. EuroPython 2010 will held from the 17th to 22nd of July in Birmingham, United Kingdom. EuroPython will involve over 100 talks, discussions and social events. The timetable can be found here: http://www.europython.eu/talks/timetable/ Speakers include the best of the European Python community, including Martijn Faassen, Tobias Ivarsson, Holger Krekel, Marc-André Lemburg, Ezio Melotti and many more. Not to mention the locals: Michael Foord, David Jones, Mark Dickinson, Luke Leighton and more. Speakers from North America include core Python developers Raymond Hettinger and Brett Cannon, author Wesley Chun, as well as Guido van Rossum, the creator of Python, who will be making his first (and probably last) appearance in the UK for many years. EuroPython 2010 is a not-for-profit volunteer-organised conference. There is a fee for your conference booking in order to help cover costs, this includes lunches and refreshments, as well as the conference dinner. Next Cambridge & East Anglia Meeting: Tue 6th July

The next meeting should be a talks meeting, Tuesday 6th July, 7.30pm at RealVNC. As normal, offered talks will be welcome; volunteer on the Google group, direct to me, or just turn up and offer to talk (although *knowing* people are going to talk makes me feel safer). After that, there is, or course, EuroPython on 19th - 22nd July. I think we *should* be OK to hold the meeting after that on Tuesday 3rd August, but I shall be away on holiday (again!). Tibs

Next Django London User Group details

What? DJUGL is the not really monthly meetup of the Django User Group in London. Expect a gathering of Django users and developers, some interesting short talks and hopefully a few slices of pizza. Speakers? An introduction to FluidDB: a platform for the web of things – Nicholas Tollervey talking about FluidDB and the django-fluiddb library We’re still on the lookout for two more speakers for this event. Anything from a ten minute slot up to half an hour is probably best. When? 26th July 2010. Doors will open at 6:30pm. The talks will start at 7pm and will go on till 8:30pm or so. We’ll hopefully then find a local beer serving venue to carry on the conversation. Where?
