I'm the self-appointed Guardian of the of the Dimensions here at scikit-image. =) This is a good idea and I will pop it near the top of the list for conversion to 3D. Of course, pull requests are very welcome! If you would like to try your hand at it, I'm happy to help you through any hairy bits. =)
