Hi all, my name is Gus and I'm a Materials Science PhD student. Most of my research involves x-radiography, so I've done a lot of image processing over the last few years that eventually brought me to Python and scikit-image. After using Python/scikit-image/Git consistently for a couple years, I think I'm finally at the point where I can be helpful to the community. I've read through the "how to contribute" page, and I'm interested in mentoring as suggested there. Overall I feel pretty good about the outlined contribution process, but I could use some additional guidance on using GitLab/pooch and the testing process. I've started looking through the issues tagged "good first issue" on GitHub, so talking through what might be a good first issue for me to tackle would also be helpful! I'm sure the community is generally very busy, but if anybody has the bandwidth for this kind of light mentoring, I'd be grateful and would love to chat with you! Thanks! Gus
