Hello everyone,

I'm new to scikit-image (and scientific programming in Python), and eventually want to try implementing one of the requested features. I am somewhat familiar with contributing to open source, so mentorship in regards to how I can build towards picking and implementing a full feature in this code base would be appreciated! Are there any resources I should look into or should I just start trying to submit PRs for beginner-friendly issues?
