Ideally, we do not want to do manipulations that overflow or underflow (and that probably means avoiding uint8 arithmetic). It is used in colormixer, because those values are for display purposes only. However, let's keep this code around for a while; now that it's been written, we can easily pull it in if it happens to solve a problem. Cheers Stéfan
