Hi there, My current employer is organizing regular "hack weeks" where engineers can work on the projects of their choice. My team is using a lot of pydata tools, including scikit image, so contributing to it would be natural. Before I decide to add scikit image as a project, I want to make sure it does not create more burden for the maintainers, the goal is to help the project, and for my team's members to help them contributing to OSS in "proper way". I would have time to prepare the hack week, making sure we prepare good PRs. While I never really contributed to the project, I should be able to make sure PRs pass a certain level of quality, but I would need help from one existing maintainer to figure out issues/areas where to focus. Does that sound useful ? The first hack week would be held from 23th to 27th March, in Tokyo. Everybody would be remote because of the coronavirus, so except for time difference, if it makes sense, people outside of my employer could join. regards, David

As you know from our discussions at SciPy Japan, I'm keen to start collaborations with Japanese contributors, as I think both Japan and Australia are somewhat isolated from the rest of the FOSS world by time zones, but we could be stronger together. =) Anyway, since I'm in Oz, I should be neatly aligned to provide real-time help to this endeavour! I'm not free the whole time during that week, but most of the time I should be quite responsive. As you might know, we use https://skimage.zulipchat.com for real-time chat. You can create a new login with just your GitHub account. Coincidentally, I've been meaning to put together a roadmap and do some triaging in the coming days.
