Deprecation warnings

Hi all, The test suite currently generates a batch of deprecation warnings: - PyArray_FromDims: use PyArray_SimpleNew - PyArray_FromDimsAndDataAndDescr: use PyArray_NewFromDescr - set_local_path/restore_path will be removed in NumPy 1.3 The path manipulation functions were deemed not to be needed any more for NumPy; unless somebody can cite a reason they're needed in SciPy I'll take them out here too. I can try to clean up the other warnings if nobody else has the time at the moment. There's also a fair amount of test detail being spewed out inline with the unit test output, which makes things rather cluttered. Would anyone be horribly offended if I cleaned that up as well? It seems to me the unit tests should generally be silent unless something goes wrong. Thanks, Alan

SciPy 2008 Registration Deadline Extended

Greetings, The merchant account processor that we use for the SciPy Conference online registration has been experiencing some inexplicable problems authorizing some registrations. Apologies to those who have struggled to register and have not been successful. Because of the problems, we're extending the early-bird rates through Monday at midnight Central Time. Doctest execution context

Hi all, Currently, the NumPy doctests, when executed via numpy.test(doctests=True), are run in a context that's pretty much equivalent to a fresh Python interpreter that's executed "import numpy as np". Should we do something similar for SciPy? For example, if the NoseTester figures out that it's running tests for SciPy or one of its packages, we could add "import scipy as sp" (or something similar) to the context. Alan

scipy.testing removed from svn

Hi all, I just checked in a change that removes scipy.testing and updates all the unit tests to use numpy.testing instead. There are some recent updates in NumPy (as in, 30 seconds ago) that are needed to support the SciPy tests, so please update your NumPy from svn as well to avoid problems. If this breaks your code in any way, please let me know. I will be making more changes over the next couple of days to clear some deprecation warnings and make sure all the tests are getting run. Switching SciPy to use numpy.testing

Hi all, We've added the nose test setup from scipy/testing to NumPy, and should be ready to switch SciPy over to use it (and remove the scipy/testing directory). Unless somebody has an objection, I'll make the switch tomorrow or Wednesday, and post a message to the list when it's done. Thanks! Alan
