[Newbie] Information regarding GSoC

Hello, Newbie here. Is Scipy participating in GSoC this year? I am curious to work under Scipy for GSoC if it is possible. Can someone mentor me regarding this? Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Shubham Mishra (Github handle: grapheo12)

Hi Shubham, thanks for asking. We haven't discussed it yet, now would be a good time to do that - I'll open a separate thread for it. Cheers, Ralf

Hello all. Thanks for hearing me out regarding GSoC. I am interested in the differential equation solvers as put forward by Nicolas. Should I start preparing for the same? I have done a basic freshman level math course where ODEs were taught, but not up to that level. Can someone suggest some reading materials (books, papers, tutorials... anything) from where I can learn? I am really eager to learn and contribute in a meaningful way. Hello, This is a follow up on the above mail. According to GSoC timelines, the date of release of organizations is tomorrow. Please let me know if Scipy is really participating. I'll be contributing anyway, however. Warm regards, Shubham Mishra On Mon, Feb 17, 2020 at 1:57 PM Shubham Mishra <smishra99.iitkgp@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Shubham, it looks like we unfortunately do not have enough SciPy maintainers available to be able to participate. I'll be contributing anyway, however.
That's great to hear! Please dive in and ask for help if you need it. I would suggest to start with some smaller issues; the topics Nicolas suggested are really large and we don't have an issue with a possible plan of attack. Cheers, Ralf
