plan for SciPy 1.3.0 release
Hi all, It's about time to start thinking about the next release. We should probably be aiming for around mid May. Is anyone interested to be the release manager for this release? Cheers, Ralf
Hey, What are roles and responsibilities of a release manager? Any specific qualifications? Cheers, Gopi On Tue, Apr 9, 2019 at 11:33 PM Ralf Gommers <ralf.gommers@gmail.com> wrote:

That's documented at http://scipy.github.io/devdocs/dev/index.html#making-a-scipy-release. Additionally, some decisions need to be made about backports etc (mostly documented as well, search for "release manager" in that same page). Any specific qualifications?
You should at least already be a project maintainer. Cheers, Ralf

I am not a project manager already, so that puts me out of options, right? On Wed, Apr 10, 2019, 4:37 PM Ralf Gommers <ralf.gommers@gmail.com> wrote:

Yes:) Release manager is one of the more complex things to do in a project. You're new to the community, so it would be better to start simple, like with a few more pull requests:) I believe I have reviewed one from you before. Cheers, Ralf

I can do this again if I'm not depriving another maintainer that wants to try. On Wed, 10 Apr 2019 at 04:46, Gopi Manohar Tatiraju <deathcoderx@gmail.com> wrote:

I would prefer Tyler do it but if he is already healing the previous 1.2.1 wounds I can be the backup. Though OSX wheels are really really frightening me /* Bohemian Rhapsody starts to play */ On Wed, Apr 10, 2019 at 7:08 PM Tyler Reddy <tyler.je.reddy@gmail.com> wrote:

Same here, I'm happy to do it but Tyler did a great job last time around and I also have lost of other ideas of things to work on:) No other takers, so Tyler will be the release manager. Thanks a lot for offering Tyler! Though OSX wheels are really really frightening me
It's a matter of changing one commit hash in a config file and pushing a commit - the rest is all automated. Wheels are mostly a smooth experience these days. Cheers, Ralf
