Hi Pearu, Thank you very much for all your useful hints. I have build both my own lapack library and ATLAS from scratch. However I cannot say exactly where the bug concerning svdvals was located, but now svdvals works fine ! Altogether I suggest to rebuild LAPACK in SuSE distributions. Regards, Nils
