access to wavelets.scipy.org/svn/
Hello, I don't know of a better place to post than this for a question regarding pywt. Following the instructions found at http://wavelets.scipy.org/index.html for checking out the development version: $$ svn co http://wavelets.scipy.org/svn/multiresolution/wavelets/trunk wavelets svn: REPORT request failed on '/svn/multiresolution/!svn/vcc/default' svn: REPORT of '/svn/multiresolution/!svn/vcc/default': 400 Bad Request (http://wavelets.scipy.org) and the indicated path in http://wavelets.scipy.org/svn/multiresolution/pywt/trunk/README.txt yields a similar error. However, trying: $$ svn co https://wavelets.scipy.org/svn/multiresolution/pywt/trunk/ at least asks for a password. However, shouldn't there be (or, could there please be) anonymous access to this tree? Thank you, Glen Mabey

If you mean browsing to the URL via a web browser, that also works for me. However, running the svn client gives the error I included. I can check out svn versions for both numpy and scipy with no problem, too. Glen

No, I checked both of them out using svn. -- Robert Kern "I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth." -- Umberto Eco

No, I checked both of them out using svn.
Ah, yes. I remember getting this error when trying to check out numpy and scipy, before a change was made to allow access via https ... I think. I can only assume it has something to do with the corporate firewall -- I'm not well-versed in svn. Glen
Hey Glen, The wavelet.scipy.org code was originally going to be wrappers around Francois Meyer's C code, but it turned out there was another project further along: http://www.pybytes.com/pywavelets/ So after approaching the author Filip Wasilewski, he agreed to move his project over to scipy. The wavelet.scipy.org front page is a little out of data in regards to the change. You should check out the code anonymously using: svn co http://wavelets.scipy.org/svn/multiresolution/pywt/trunk/ pywt-trunk Fernando Perez has access to the wavelet.scipy.org site, but he is on vacation. When he returns I will get the site updated with more recent information. Thanks, -- Jarrod Millman Computational Infrastructure for Research Labs 10 Giannini Hall, UC Berkeley phone: 510.643.4014 http://cirl.berkeley.edu/

Thank you for the explanation -- it was a bit confusing. Unfortunately, the svn command you provided still does not work for me, and I'll have to pursue that issue a different day. Best Regards, Glen

Hmmm ... it works for me, so hopefully it is just something on your firewall. Please let me know if you have any more questions or if after talking to your network administrator the problem still persists. Good luck, Jarrod

This is a well known SVN issue. Are you running through a proxy (transparent or otherwise)? One way to get around it is to use secure http, the other is to get your system administrator to fix the proxy. See http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#proxy Regards Stéfan

As others have pointed, this is an issue with your local proxy config. If you're still having problems, please let us know. Also, note that the brief history provided by Jarrod is correct. Filip's code has been moved over to the scipy site, and Filip has SVN commit access to it. I just did a quick update of the site to better reflect this, and turned it into a Moin wiki completely. This will remove me as the bottleneck for site handling, and Filip (or anyone else) can now contribute more up to date info. A pywavelets project is one of those things that everyone seems to need but nobody has the time to fully develop. Currently at least Filip is making progress, but my understanding is that his time is also limited for this project. If more users with expertise in this area and some time to spare are willing to help, there's plenty to do... Cheers, f
