I've been deleting all of the spam on the www.scipy.org wiki for some time now. I'm done. If you would like to jump in, please do so. If you need permissions to use the "Delete Page" and "Remove Spam" actions, let me know, and I will give them to you. If you have a better idea how to manage the spam, please coordinate with Jarrod. -- Robert Kern "I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth." -- Umberto Eco

Is there any way to put up one of those stupid yahoo-esque puzzle tests in order to post to the wiki? On Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 12:43 AM, Robert Kern <robert.kern@gmail.com> wrote:

MoinMoin 1.6 has them, http://moinmo.in/HelpOnTextChas but, as I understand, the version running on scipy.org is older than this and someone would need to upgrade it first. (But I believe this would pay off -- spending time on deleting spam manually is nearly wasted time IMO.) To use this feature sensibly, some people would have to maintain a list of known-good users, so that frequent editors wouldn't have to fill in the CAPTCHA on every edit. Since passing this test is required also on account registration, one could perhaps use Known as the textchas_disabled_group to limit CAPTCHAS to registration, and not to editing. -- Pauli Virtanen
