Adding a page to the SciPy Wiki??

I would like to add a page on my C extensions to the Wiki and a link to the tar file of the code, but I am having problems getting started. Several people have pointed me to various SciPy.org pages. I have added a new link to a non-existent page by adding a /MyNewPage on the URL and it says it automatically will add a page, but when I tell it what to add (a blank page) it just says I need to log in to do that. When I look for log in on the SciPy site I don't see it anywhere. I have no idea what the templates mean and whether I should choose one of them. All the pages I go to to try to add a new page are marked Immutable Page in the left column. Clicking on the balloon (Edit) tells me I can't do that. Sorry, gang, this newbie is still lost. -- Lou Pecora My views are my own. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Any questions? On the PythonMac-SIG, Larry Meyn gave you a pointer to how you can register: """ First you need an account. For that go to http://www.scipy.org/UserPreferences and enter your information. To edit pages click on the little balloon icon in the upper right. Help on editing can be found at http://www.scipy.org/HelpOnEditing """ Once you have created an account for yourself, the login link is in the upper right-hand corner of every page. -- Robert Kern "I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth." -- Umberto Eco

I got logged in... somehow. Not sure what I did right. I got a plain vanilla title and paragraph up there as a subpage to Cookbook/C Extensions. It's NumPyArrays. I managed to upload two files containing my contribution source code and documents. One is a .tar file the other a tar.gz file. I have no idea how to make my page point to them so others can get them. I've been looking in the Help area, but I see nothing. Thanks for any help. I am still stumped. --- Robert Kern <robert.kern@gmail.com> wrote:

Cext.tar.gz is at the bottom of that page below your signature. -- Robert Kern "I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth." -- Umberto Eco

Hi Lou, The easiest way to create a new page is going to http://new.scipy.org/Wiki/FindPage There you enter the new name in the last field and Click "goto page" - if that page does not exist you come to a screen where you can select to create the content "Create new empty page". You can also use one of the suggested templates. Just start and ask (on the wiki page) how to do certain things - there are several people to help. If you want to upload your file with the examples add: [attachment:examples.tgz] to the page and save the page. After saving you will get a link that you can use to upload. Ah, that's the trick. Let me try it. I have another message where I say I can't do this. That worked for the Attachment. Thanks. Some time I would like to add some formatting. But that can wait. I also would like to delete one attachment (the original tar ball that is NOT zipped). If the page I created should be moved I will need help with that one, too. By the way, several people told me to use a template, but I have no idea what the heck any of them mean or do. Right now, after my first interaction with editing a Wiki: It was easier to write a C extension. :-) -- Lou --- David Linke <davidlinke@tiscali.de> wrote:
