Hi all, for those interested, here's a brief report on the recent SIAM meeting where a number of Python-based tools for scientific computing (including ipython, numpy, scipy, sage, and more) were discussed: http://fdoperez.blogspot.com/2008/07/python-tools-for-science-go-to-siam.htm... The punch line is that we got selected for the annual highlights of the conference: http://www.ams.org/ams/siam-2008.html#python Thanks again to all who contributed talks and attended! Cheers, f

Fernando, Congratulations on being selected for the highlights of the meeting. For those of us who were not in San Diego, is there any chance to see the slides of the talks in the three sessions you co-organized? That would be awesome. I should have thought of doing that before, sorry. Here are my slides: https://cirl.berkeley.edu/fperez/talks/0807_siam_intro_python_scicomp.pdf and I'm in the process of contacting the others for theirs. I'll report back in a couple of days with the appropriate links as I get them. Cheers, f

Sorry it took a bit long, but here they are (the ones I got from the speakers): https://cirl.berkeley.edu/fperez/py4science/2008_siam/ Cheers, f

Oops, sorry about that. I'm still getting the hang of rest2web, which I'm using for the site (fantastic, lightweight little rst-based site generator) and I missed building the file index correctly. Should be OK now, thanks for pointing this out. Cheers, f

Thanks, Fernando! This is really useful.
My pleasure. I've just added Bill Hart's talk, which was an impromptu replacement on optimization (I didn't have his slides before). Cheers, f
