Does the example work when the scikit-umfpack is not installed? It should - in that case the super-lu solver from scipy is used.

The error message looks like the one described in https://github.com/scikit-umfpack/scikit-umfpack/issues/22 - this has not been fixed yet, unfortunately. But I do not understand. why you see it with such a small matrix.
