For 116 - I vote for a LinearElasticAnisotropicTerm, which as I understand it would be a wrapper around LinearElasticTerm. No biggie though.

Well, there are now two linear elastic term flavors:
dw_lin_elastic_iso - the isotropic one, taking Lame's constants dw_lin_elastic - the most general one (completely anisotropic), taking the stiffness tensor D.
You propose to add something like dw_lin_elastic_{ortho, transverse, ...} to specialize dw_lin_elastic for common anisotropic materials?
If that's the case, I suggest adding functions to sfepy/mechanics/matcoefs.py, analogous to stiffness_tensor_lame() [1], which take the usual elastic parameters for each anisotropic material and construct the tensor D, which could be then plugged into dw_lin_elastic...
As an example, stiffness_tensor_orthotropic() would take C11, .., C66, C12, C13, C23 arguments in 3D.

I see your point - since I've only been working with dw_lin_elastic_iso, I didn't grasp that dw_lin_elastic was completely anisotropic. I thought it was *only* isotropic with stiffness tensor D. Thanks for the explanation. This resolves the issue for me and it can be closed.

Our docs are really lacking in explaining such details, so at least it's written here in the mailing list. :)
