What repository do I need to add to /etc/apt/sources.list to get paraview easily installed? I don't see it in Synaptic with my current list of sources (I am running Ubuntu 7.10).
Thanks,
Ryan

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main
apt-get update apt-get install paraview
let me know if it works.

So, this didn't seem like a good idea (mixing Debin and Ubuntu) and it didn't work. There weren't any error messages, just one quirk with the file open dialog (return key didn't open folders) and the visualization was wrong (just displayed 0's - the box was all red).
I had no problems downloading the executable Linux version, however from here: http://www.paraview.org/files/v3.2/paraview-3.2.1-Linux-x86.tar.gz
So, I am up and running.

I forgot that Ubuntu and Debian are not binary compatible. Use the same package from the ubuntu repository then:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+source/paraview/3.2.2-1
I don't use ubuntu, but maybe you know how to add sources for intrepid. It should just work.
Or you can download the binary by hand from here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/paraview/3.2.2-1
e.g.: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15828310/paraview_3.2.2-1_i386.deb
