spambayes quit working and won't reinstall

I am running Outlook 2003 and had Spambayes running fine. All of a sudden it quit working. I have read the trouble shooting manual and nothing seems to work. I have uninstalled Spambayes and reinstalled several times. The log file says it is registered. When I go to the Advanced options/Comm Addinns dialog Spambay show in the list but unchecked. I check it and then restart Outlook. No Spambayes. The addin dialog then shows it unchecked again. Right now I don’t have any other ideas about what to try. Sharing database among multiple IMAP clients?

Hello! I'm completely new to SpamBayes, and I'm trying to figure out how I want to set it up for myself. Thanks to the list in advance. I'll probably be using an IMAP server and accessing my mail from two main places - work and home. My question is: how can I (and should I, even) share the training data between the two locations? Ideally I'd like to maintain just one database, since this will all be a single set of mail; otherwise I'd have to repeat the same training at home and at work. Several possibilities occur to me, and I'm curious to hear other users' suggestions on these: 1. Manually copy the database file(s) from one location to the other. There are several variations on this. I could just do the initial training in one location and copy to the other, then maintain each database separately thereafter, expecting the follow-on training to take much less work. Or I could copy the DB each time I did some training. Or, if there's some reliable way to merge the two slightly different DBs, I could periodically do that. 2. Maintain the database file(s) on a server somewhere. This is really more what I want, but it's harder to arrange. The best thing, obviously, would be to run SpamBayes on the server, but I'm expecting that, for reliability and simplicity, I'll probably be using a shared commercial server where I can't install SpamBayes. But even if I'm running SpamBayes on the client, I could maintain a single DB in some online location. I could stick it on an FTP or rsync server, and have a script (or maybe even write a SpamBayes extension) that downloads it when I begin using SpamBayes and uploads it when I'm done. I could store the DB at work and map a Windows network drive to point at my work machine through my VPN, and configure SpamBayes at home to use the DB on the network drive - but my VPN isn't completely reliable, so that could be a hassle. Or perhaps there are distributed-DB features built into some of the storage options that SpamBayes can use? 3. Carry a little USB drive around with me, and keep the DB on that. (Does the DB get too big for this to be practical?) 4. Super Crazy Ninja Trick?: enhance the SpamBayes IMAP proxy with the ability to maintain a DB in a folder on the IMAP server, download it before beginning filtering, and upload it whenever it is modified. If this seems productive, and the feature doesn't yet exist, I'd be happy to add it if I can find the time. Surely others have run into the same DB-replication question. Is there any conventional wisdom on this yet? I didn't find anything obviously related in the wiki, the FAQ, or the mail archives. I realize the question probably does come down to a simple issue of "how do I share a file between multiple sites?", which isn't particular to SpamBayes, but maybe SpamBayes users are a good crowd to ask such a question of. As far as I know, SpamBayes does no contention management (locking) on its databases. As a result, there's no robust way to share a database among multiple processes. So I think that even if you solve the current problem, you won't be able to get this approach to work. If you need to filter mail for multiple users with a single database, you'll probably need to set up server-side filtering, so only one process uses the database. Personally, I think the individualized nature of the database is one of SpamBayes' greatest assets. One man's ham is another's spam. Undo Delete as Spam Sender

I'm not sure what version I have, I couldn't find it under the About section. I downloaded it in Jun 2005, if that helps I need to undo selecting a sender into "delete as spam" I had them selected and hit the wrong button. Thank YOU

Eudora configuration

Hi, I've been using SpamBayes w/ my Outlook and it's terrific. If I could use it also for Eudora, that would be FANTASTIC, but - and it's probably VERY easy, I'm not quite sure how to do it. I'm using WinXP. I have some instructions from cvs.sourceforge.net - but it's still not clear to me, or done in idiot-proof steps. I understand the concept that a server (sb_server?) has to intercept incoming mails to peruse, before it passes them along to the actual POP3 server, but I really don't know where to do that. I've installed Python (and Mark Hammond's extensions), and now I have a SpamByes config tools in the taskbar. It's just not clear to me what to fill in where. I work best by examples, I guess where I don't have to know WHY, I just do it. Anyway, this is a bit of what it looks like now: Or is it all done in the Eudora.ini? I change PopServer=Sorcer (my PC name), and likewise for SMTP? DomainQualifier= SMTPServer=mail.yale.edu PopServer=prondina.mail.yale.edu LoginName Since I started this some days ago, and stopped in confusion, I've forgotten exactly WHAT of Python is installed. Where do I do: net start pop3proxy - or do I have to do it?

DELETED FOLDER

I currently have spambytes on my computer but I accidentally deleted my junk suspects folder and don't know how to get it back, I have tried uninstalling the s/w then putting it back on and that didn't work I must be missing a step. SpamBayes + Exchange Server

Hi Folks, I found Spambayes yesterday and got an idea. I want to use it with my Exchange Server in the following way: The pop filters should get the emails from my ISP and should forward it to my Exchange Server, filtering out the Spam. OK, this should be no Problem ... now the Question: Is it Possible to use the Imap filter to train the pop filter ? I want to scan the Inbox of the Postboxes every night for good Emails, and a specific folder (where everyone has access) for bad emails. So users could move there Spam emails from the Inbox to this "Spam Folder". This "Spam folder" also has its own internal adress, so the POP filter could forward SPAM messages to this Spam Folder. Can I do it like this ? The main thing is ... is it possible to train the POP Filter with the use of the IMAP Filter, and how do I do this ? Regards
