Outlook plugin crash

R. K. Coe _____ For as long as I can remember, there has been a trickle of reports of Spambayes causing hard crashes in Outlook. (I submitted some myself two or three years ago.) I don't remember whether this particular one has been reported or not. Spambayes plugin with Outlook 2002 (Office XP SP3) under Windows Server 2003 SP1. Outlook crashes immediately and blames the crash on Spambayes when I try to restart. No Spambayes toolbar, nothing in the log; presumably it doesn't get that far. But in order to get Outlook to restart, I have to accept Outlook's offer to disable Spambayes. I reinstalled Spambayes once or twice, which didn't help. Has anyone gotten Spambayes to run successfully in this configuration? In fact, has anyone used it at all with WS 2003? This was a newly minted WS 2003 computer (a Dell Optiplex GX620), and it crashed the first time (and all subsequent times) I tried to run Outlook/Spambayes. So far, Outlook runs OK on that machine without Spambayes. How to reclassify Eudora mbx?

I recently got a new laptop and I am in the process of setting it up. I installed Eudora 7.0.1.0 and spambayes 1.0.4 on Windows XP SP2. Before training spambayes, I started receiving email (via POP). I have several hundred new emails that have passed through spambayes and are now classified as unsure and are sitting in a eudora .mbx. Most of the messages have probably been deleted from the POP server. I have since trained spambayes on some spam (9883) and ham (6376) from my old laptop (also Eudora). I used the spambayes web interface, and in the "Train on a message, mbox file or dbx file" section, I uploaded the eudora .mbx file using the Train as Spam or Train as Ham buttons as appropriate. I would now like to go back and re-classify the hundreds of messages that were initially classified as unsure. The web interface "classify a message" lets you upload a message file or paste a message into the form, but I don't think that does what I want. I would like to take before.mbx and feed it through spambayes to copy each message into after.mbx, where after.mbx has the new classification (spam, ham, unsure) in the email header and before.mbx is left alone (read only). before.mbx would have email headers "X-Spambayes-Classification: unsure" after.mbx would have email headers "X-Spambayes-Classification: ham" or spam, and a lot fewer unsure. I don't really care if X-Spambayes-MailId: is changed. How can I do this? Paul

not filtering

Further to the email below. It appears that it filters emails that arrive during the day, but will not filter ones already in the in box (but unread) that are there when I first open it in the morning. NEVERMIND: toolbars not appearing

Sorry, no sooner did I send this request for help but I solved the problem myself, using this guidance from the help files. * If you are running Outlook XP/2002/2003, you may find that if you go back to the dialog, the addin will still be unselected. In this case, perform the following: 1. Go to Help->About Microsoft Outlook. 2. Click the Disabled Items button. 3. Select SpamBayes. 4. Click Enable. 5. Hello Spambayes Experts, After using Spambayes successfully (on a Win XP machine with Outlook 2003 Pro), I got a message saying something (can't recall what) had caused a problem and the filters should be disabled. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the software (twice, including checking with Regedit to make sure there was nothing left in the registry). Now the toolbars are not showing and do not appear as an option when I go to View/Toolbars. It appears to be filtering spam to Junk and Junk Suspects, but I can't make the toolbars appear. Training

I've been running SpamBayes for a couple days now, it's getting better pretty fast. Does it do anygood to "train" on messages that are already classified correctly? I'm asking because if I "Review Messages...." and there are lots of correctly classified messages and a few new unclassified or incorrectly classified messages it trains faster if I "discard" the correct ones and only train on the others. BUT, it's easier to just correct the few and leave the others as is. So, does it do any good to retrain on the correct ones, or does it just take a little extra time. Thanks, Monte
