Hi I have been trying to install SpamBayes 1.0.4 onto my machine, which runs Windows XP / Office 2003. I have downloaded and run versions from two different mirrors and direct from the link on the site, but none of them seems to work. The install wizard claims to have done its thing, but I can't get it to open with Outlook. Any help gratefully received! Thanks very much Becky pp Pauline --- avast! I use the spam program for Outlook 2002. It stopped working yesterday. I looked for an uninstall feature in the add/remove programs and it was not there. How can I make the program work again or delete it? Thanks.

Have lost "Junk Suspects" folder!
by Bockman, Janet Lea Aug. 7, 2006

Aug. 7, 2006

Hi -- I am on an Outlook 2003 Exchange server with Spambayes 1.0.4 running. A couple of days ago, I lost my "Junk Suspect" folder. I know that Spambayes still thinks it's there because Outlook will tell me that I have x number of unread messages when my inbox shows that I've read all of my e-mail. When I click on the "Unread Message" folder, these messages are in my now "invisible Junk Suspect" folder. I've unistalled SpamBayes and reinstalled it, but there is no "Junk Suspect" folder. I also selected the "reset configuration" button in the Spambayes management window, but I still can't see the "Junk Suspect" folder. Can you help me? Thanks in advance. Janet Bockman P.S. UI issue
by Edward Hume Aug. 7, 2006

Aug. 7, 2006

I have been using SpamBayes for about two years. I have one problem that I have never been able to overcome: my habits. I get lots of Junk e-mail - something like 400-600 pieces per day. That means I get a lot of items in my Junk Suspects folder, so I spend time in it several times a day. Every once in a while I will look in my Junk folder. When I am done I will sometimes automatically click on the leftmost icon in the SpamBayes toolbar. Only after I have clicked on it do I realize that I have clicked on "Recover from Spam" rather than "Delete as Spam". I would like to suggest that rather than having the Delete As Spam button disappear from the toolbar as it does now, it should remain, in an obviously disabled state. We do this in Firefox with reduced-opacity icons. Outlook seems to do this with grayed-out images. Thank you for a great tool. Ed

Unable to view messages to inbox
by Emy Wright Aug. 7, 2006

Aug. 7, 2006

I have Outlook Express, however, it has not been very secure, and Mozilla Thunderbird was set up for my new mail. Now I am having trouble receiving my mail. I have 5 new messages and I am unable to recover them. I have had a terrible experience with spyware when Norton didn't help me activate my latest (2006) security, and the security ran out. The numbers on the sleeve and box didn't match. Spent hours with Microsoft and Dell, sent my computer to be fixed; it came back still with trouble in Windows. Had another person come to house and he set up my Thunderbird mail, and it worked for a couple days. Now that is not working. Can anything be done other than have Windows completely uninstalled, then reinstalled? I don't have backups for my programs, but nothing serious on computer but mail I have saved. And I didn't know you existed. This just came up when I wrote a note regarding this. Thanks, Emy

I vote for leaving things as they are. I've radically changed the look and feel of my Spambayes toolbar, and would prefer not to have to do it over. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." And this ain't. Help with a specific issue
by R. Lee Davis / ESPmagic Productions Aug. 7, 2006

Aug. 7, 2006

Hello! First, I am really computer ignorant, and I don't like to play with things I don't understand, so I thought I'd ask the experts: I keep receiving spam to an address that doesn't exist (bbixlxufq(a)ESPmagic.com), and I wondered how I can set Spambayes to send all emails that come to this address directly to the junk email folder. Is there a simple method to do this? I couldn't see the way when browsing the FAQ page... Thank you so much for your help! Lee -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Thanks folks; I wasn't aware of that, and the ThunderBird SpamKiller doesn't seem to be "Training" too cleverly. I'll work on it some more and see if I can get it to "Learn" my SPAM characteristics.
